What actually changes on 1 November 2026?

The public notes say the yearly fee Verisign charges registrars for each .com moves from $10.26 to $10.97. From that date the new fee applies to new registrations, renewals, and transfers at the registry.

ICANN adds $0.20 per domain-year. The lowest cost of one .com for one year, before a registrar’s own margin, moves from $10.46 to $11.17.

A registrant does not pay Verisign directly. What you pay depends on whether your registrar passes the increase on, and when. This shop’s catalog is a file. The wholesale date does not edit it.

How has the .com wholesale price moved since 2021?

The notes say it rose 7% each September from 2021, reaching $10.26 in 2024, and stayed there through 2025. The 1 November 2026 step to $10.97 is the fifth increase in six years.

Verisign runs the .com registry under an agreement with ICANN that allows an increase of up to 7% in certain years. Industry reports say that after the 2026 step the contract still allows three more increases of 7%.

2025No increase$10.26

With the $0.20 ICANN fee per domain-year, the full cost floor is $10.46 before 1 November 2026 and $11.17 after.

What does the increase mean for other registrars’ .com renewals?

It depends how close the sticker price already is to cost. Cloudflare says it charges registry and ICANN cost with no markup, so its .com tracks the floor. On 8 October 2026 that was $10.46. After 1 November the at-cost price in these notes is $11.17.

Several registrars listed a .com renewal under $11.17 on 8 October 2026. After 1 November, if the price is not changed, it sits under the new cost. Those new prices were not published when these pages were checked.

Does BuyDomainsCrypto’s .com price change?

The wholesale step does not push this catalog under cost. The catalog .com is $12.99 the first year and $12.99 to renew, which is above the $11.17 floor that applies from 1 November 2026.

This shop does not compute that number as “registry wholesale, plus the ICANN fee, plus a small margin” on a live feed. The figure is the placeholder in the catalog file. It is on the pricing page and in the price index, which compares it with other registrars. When the file changes, those pages change. Site notes are on the changelog. How do you lock today’s .com price?

At a registrar that charges multi-year terms at the current price, renewing or registering several years before 1 November 2026 keeps those years off a later increase. Confirm that on their site. This shop is different, and the limit is below.

  • Limit. .com can be registered up to 10 years ahead at a registry. The cart here also allows 1 to 10 years.
  • BuyDomainsCrypto. A new 5-year .com in the cart is $12.99 plus four years at $12.99, $64.95 in one charge from the balance. That charges the catalog. Registration in this build is a stub, so the charge does not create a live five-year registry registration. There is no renewal job. The auto-renew switch does not charge by itself. A multi-year renewal of a name you already hold is not a live registry renewal here.
  • Other registrars. Confirm that a multi-year renewal is the current price, not a future price.

Money paid ahead cannot be spent on something else if the registrar keeps it. Only prepay a name you mean to keep. The quote on a top-up here is held for 30 minutes. There is no bulk-registration guide beyond the search page, which can check many names.

.com price increase: questions

When does the .com price increase take effect?

1 November 2026, in the public notes. From that date Verisign charges registrars $10.97 a year for a .com, instead of $10.26, for registrations, renewals, and transfers. With the $0.20 ICANN fee the cost floor is $11.17. Your own price depends on the registrar. This catalog does not change on that date by itself.

What is the wholesale price after the increase?

The notes say $10.97 a year, paid by the registrar to Verisign. ICANN adds $0.20 per domain-year, so a .com year before a registrar’s margin is $11.17. A registrar that sells at cost, such as Cloudflare describes itself, charges about that from 1 November 2026.

Why is Verisign raising .com?

Because its agreement with ICANN allows it, according to the notes this page cites. Verisign runs the .com registry under a contract that allows an increase of up to 7% in certain years. It used that room each September from 2021 through 2024, skipped 2025, and set the next increase for 1 November 2026. Reports say three further 7% steps may remain.

Will BuyDomainsCrypto raise prices on 1 November?

The catalog .com is $12.99 a year, same to renew, and that figure is already above the new $11.17 floor. The wholesale date does not by itself edit the catalog, and it does not push the catalog under cost. Prices are on the pricing page. There is no public pricing.json. Crypto top-up only. No ID at signup. Registration is a stub.

Should I renew a .com for several years now?

If you are sure you will keep the name, a multi-year renewal paid before 1 November 2026 can lock the current price at many registrars, up to 10 years. If you might drop the name, paying far ahead can cost more than it saves. On this shop, several years in the cart charge today’s catalog and do not create a live registry term, because the registrar call is a stub.

What does the increase mean if I use Cloudflare Registrar?

Cloudflare says it charges registry and ICANN cost, with no markup. On 8 October 2026 its .com was $10.46, the old floor, so the at-cost price after 1 November is $11.17 in these notes. Cloudflare has no crypto payment on record. See the Cloudflare comparison.

Does .net go up as well?

Later, according to Domain Name Wire: Verisign moves the .net wholesale price from $10.91 to $12.00 on 1 March 2027. This shop does not have a separate .net increase page. The price index has the .net row. This catalog’s .net is a placeholder, not that wholesale figure.
